Echo is Dublin's only sold local newspaper in Dublin, covering Ballyfermot, Lucan, Templeogue, Saggart and the surrounding areas. It has a circulation of over 30,000 in Dublin.
Their previous website was built using the Joomla platform and had not been updated or modernised in some time. This outdated version of the Joomla content management system offered limited functionality, which restricted Echo in terms of content and scope. The frontend design also fell behind contemporary standards as a result.
Echo approached us to build an up-to-date WordPress-based solution and to transfer their database of older articles to the new system. They also wanted to centralise their subscription and online newspaper archive facilities, as well as streamline their advertisement submission process.
Realise4 developed a comprehensive solution using the WordPress platform. Our team successfully migrated the old content, while implementing a set of tools designed to handle video uploads, cross-tagging, classifieds, business and job directories. Realise4 also developed a plugin to enable granular control of page availability for the subscribers. Additionally, Realise4 configured an advertisement management system. This would enable Echo to control their banner advertising and classifieds with ease.
The result is a modern, responsive website that boasts a sleek user experience in desktops, smartphones, and tablets. The upgrade also oversaw the migration of the site onto AWS, delivering an auto-healing and an auto-scaling solution delivering security and platform stability for spike visits, Reasdeship has jumped from 150,000 to 600,00 per month.
